Termites
Termites consist of large colonies, which include workers, soldiers and reproductive.
The workers are usually the most numerous in the colony and also the only one that feeds upon wood. Workers are in charge of feeding the rest of the colony, which can't eat wood directly. The Soldiers protect the colony from other intruding insects like ants, which can eat eggs. Reproductive are the termites that have wings, these are the ones you see flying around the house, their job is at a given time they leave the colony and reproduce. They are attracted to light during mating flights, and will look for wood to start new colonies. They become kings and queens of new colonies. Works and Soldiers are blind and work in darkness there entire lives. Termites communicate solely using tactile and chemical signals. Very smart considering their brain is no bigger than a grain of sand.

As you have heard termites cost property owners more than $5 billion in treatment and repair costs each year. In south Florida termites are found to be the most active because of the environmental conditions.

How do you know if you have Termites?

You can just ask us for a Free home termite inspection.

But here are some obvious signs you can look for.

First - Termites leave wood paper-thin is some spots which will tend to brake by just taping on it. If you are able to break it, it will look something like the piece of wood on the left.

Second - You can look for termite droppings (fecal pellets) on the left is an example of what you would see, along with a more zoomed in look. Termites make little hoes (kick-out holes) on the wood to let out the fecal pellets as well; they sometimes can cover it with a white plaster looking compound.

Third- You can see them flying around lights or you can fined there wings on windowsills or lamps.
